“Thanks to the Mission, I have a safe place for me and my kids to stay.” Monica, former Raleigh Rescue Mission Client
Saint Andrews is proud to support the ministry of Raleigh Rescue Mission (RRM). In addition to emergency overnight services for women and children and structured, long-term recovery and rehabilitation services for both men and women, adult education classes, and a medical clinic, there is a children’s development center and housing locator assistance. The onsite preschool serves up to 14 homeless and low-income children at a time. Last year, the children’s development center provided 10,412 hours of care. Housing assistance helps rent-ready candidates find safe, affordable housing for themselves and their families. RRM placed 128 people in permanent housing in 2017.
The primary focus of Saint Andrews has been to help serve and clean up dinner on the second Saturday of February, April, June, August, October and December. The mission provides the food and supervision and we provide 4-6 people to help. They prefer that the people who help in the kitchen are at least 12 years of age. Our next Saturday is August 11 and there are still opportunities to serve on that day as well as the remaining dates in 2018. Last year, 156,621 meals were served in the RRM dining room. If you can help with dinner or want to learn more about the other volunteer opportunities, please call the church office: 919-847-1913.
The RRM receives no government support and exists through the partnership of individuals, businesses, churches, and others in the community who support their work. The RRM is very grateful for the generous support of the members of Saint Andrews.
