JoyFest
“O give thanks to the Lord, for God is good; for God’s steadfast love endures forever.” Psalm 107
Dear Friends,
Stewardship is many things. It is a reminder that all things come from God’s hand. It is a call to faithfully care for gifts we’ve been given. And it is, of course, a request to provide a pledge toward our annual budget for the coming year. It is all those things in just about every congregation I’ve ever known. At Saint Andrews, though, it is at least one more thing. It is a time of rejoicing. Stewardship at SAPC is “JoyFest,” a two-week concentrated period of fellowship, mission, study and song. It is almost like a street bizarre or folk music festival, where all kinds of people and all kinds of activities happen at once. It has become a tangible way for us to demonstrate God’s blessings to this congregation and to give thanks for them. In the end, on Sunday November 12, we will bring our financial pledges toward the 2024 budget. Our hope, though, is that it is not the result of brow-beating and arm-twisting, but the epiphany of 14 days of thanksgiving. Joy is contagious. Joyfest is our stewardship.
Peace in Christ,
Tom
WHY?
HOW IS MY DONATION USED?
Address Systemic Poverty
In Matthew 25, Jesus calls us to respond to the hungry, thirsty and imprisoned. Therefore, we will be focusing our missional work on the issue of systemic poverty in our community through a variety of service projects and action steps, both churchwide and in small groups.
Support Children and Youth Ministries
In Matthew 19, Jesus calls us to welcome children in our midst. Thus, we will be working to cultivate and strengthen our ministries for children and youth.
