Take the Next Step

Discover How to Grow, Connect, and Become Part of Our Church Family

New to SAPC or Would Like to Learn More?

No matter where you are on your journey, we’re excited to walk alongside you. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to our church office. We’re happy to help.

Come to Worship

Join us for a worship service and experience a community where you can connect with God and build meaningful relationships with others. Whether you’ve been in church your whole life or you’re just exploring faith, there’s a place for you here.

Grab a Cup of Coffee

After the service, join us for a cup of coffee at Grateful Grounds, our after-worship fellowship. Located in the back of the building at the Main Entrance Portico. It’s a relaxed space to chat with a pastor or member, ask questions, and start building connections in our church community. If you’d like to meet with a pastor or staff member for a one-on-one conversation, please let us know and we’ll arrange time together.

Sign up for a Welcome Class

Our Welcome Class is a great next step. You’ll learn more about who we are, what we believe, and how you can get involved. It’s also the perfect setting to explore membership and meet others who are new to our church community.

Connect to a Ministry

Find a place to grow and serve. Whether it’s through fellowship groups, Bible studies, mission and outreach programs, or volunteer teams, you can develop your gifts, deepen your faith, build lasting friendships, and make a meaningful impact in the lives of others.

Interested in Joining?

Reach Out to Our Church Office

We will collect some basic information and find a Sunday for you to join our fellowship.

Find Time to Talk

You are encouraged to attend one of our welcome classes or, at the very least, make arrangements to meet with one of our pastoral staff for coffee and conversation.

Step Into Membership

Come early to church, on the day of your joining to meet with our leadership. You will offer a vow of membership by answering one question: “Do you seek to follow the Lord Jesus Christ in and through this congregation?”

Your Day of Welcome and Celebration

Then, in worship, we introduce you and extend a few tokens of welcome.

Beyond Worship

Following your official joining, we will work with you to get connected and find areas to develop your faith. We always encourage folks to think about “Worship Plus One.” Come to worship often and also find one specific group with which to engage.

Explore the Four Ways to Become Part of Our Church Family

There are generally four ways people join Presbyterian communities. Review this list and determine which best meets your situation. As always, we are willing and able to help you think through which is best:

Profession of Faith (First-Time Membership)

If you’ve never formally joined a church before, we’re so glad you’re considering taking this step. Here’s what the process looks like:

  • You will meet with one of our pastors to talk about the meaning of Christian discipleship.
  • You will meet with our session, prior to worship, answering the question: “Do you seek to follow the Lord Jesus Christ in and through this congregation?”

  • If you haven’t been baptized, you’ll also have the opportunity to be baptized.

  • Your picture will be taken for our directory and you will be introduced in worship.

Profession of Faith is for new believers, as well as for those who grew up attending church but were never officially received as members. However you got here, we’re glad to walk this path together.

Reaffirmation of Faith

If you were previously a church member but have been away for a while, we want you to know that a warm welcome awaits you. This may apply if you were once part of a church, but have lost contact with them. It also would apply if you were a member of a church that doesn’t “transfer” members to other congregations.

In this case:

  • You will meet with one of our pastors to talk about getting reengaged in church life.

  • You will meet with our session, prior to worship, answering the question: “Do you seek to follow the Lord Jesus Christ in and through this congregation?”

  • Your picture will be taken for our directory and you will be introduced in worship.

Transfer Your Membership

If you’re already a member of another Christian church, we’re grateful for the faith journey that’s brought you here.

Here’s how the process works:

  • Your previous church sends a “letter of transfer” to formally commend you to our care.
  • You will meet with our session, prior to worship, answering the question: “Do you seek to follow the Lord Jesus Christ in and through this congregation?”
  • Your picture will be taken for our directory and you will be introduced in worship.
Confirmation for Kids

Confirmation is the process by which young people (under 18) join the church. Led by our youth ministry team, young folks will:

  • Begin by affirming their desire to join the church. If they have not yet been baptized, they are baptized at this time.
  • Participate in an 8-10 week reflection time, prior to youth group, that actively and
    thoughtfully engages their beliefs;
  • Celebrates their welcome into the community of faith.
